The Upper
Nolichucky The Upper
Nolichucky is one of the wildest and most
scenic rivers in the Southeast. It's exciting and challenging! From the
start
it drops into a ten-mile long gorge with class III- IV rapids. Paddlers do
not
need prior experience to enjoy raft or funyak. We'll guide you past rugged
rock
bluffs, crystal clear springs and mountains that rise to elevations of
3000' the river eases in intensity in the later part. Allowing you to enjoy the
majestic mountain canyon.

There are three different formats for the
Upper Nolichucky - The Full
Day
This is our most
popular trip and the traditional format. Exciting rapids, beautiful scenery
plus the time to enjoy it and the company of your friends. Smorgasbord Lunch is
included. - The Economy
trip
This is the trip for
those with limited time, or where cost is important. It's a fast hard dash down
the upper with no lunch and non-stop paddling. It is dependent on water levels
and the lower may be substituted. - The
Deluxe Trip
This trip
starts a little later in the day, helpful if you're a late riser or have a
drive. It's usually less crowded. There is a snack on the river and dinner
afterwards. Lunch before the trip is an option.
The Lower Nolichucky A relaxing
way to experience the river. This stretch is perfect for the family; it's
gentle enough for the younger children. The Lower has class I and II rapids
with one class III at the end. You'll float pass 700' cliffs, forested
woodlands and sandy beaches. You might even see a deer or an osprey. You'll
have time to enjoy swimming in the quiet pools between gentle rapids and
maybe
hike to a cascading waterfall. Minimum age 5-

There are three different formats for the Lower
Nolichucky - The
Half-Day
With snack lunch
as the traditional format. It has a mid morning start and is the shortest but
still 3-5 hours and least expensive. - The
Half Day with Lunch
This
trip was a response to those wanting a full lunch. It also allows a little
more time for play. - The Full
Day
This trip starts a
little earlier there are a few more rapids and there is a full lunch at the
rivers edge. You are on the river 6 to 8 hours that can be hard on those used
to a nap in the afternoon.
The Watauga Even the most inexperienced paddler can enjoy
this float trip. Fast moving
current and plenty of class I and II rapids. The Watauga is dam controlled;
afternoon releases are common. Minimum Age: 5

Snack Included - Guide Escorted
Mountain Biking Tours We also offer
mountain biking tours here at Cherokee. We will take you to the top of Rich
Mountain at a height of 3400'. The view from the top is breathtaking,
overlooking North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The Rich Mountain
trail is
90% downhill so you won't have to be a pro to experience the ride. Full and
Half-Day trips are available. Minimum Age: 10

Snack Included - Guide Escorted
Ropes Courses Sign up for one of our low ropes courses and
take the Cherokee Challenge. They
are designed to develop teamwork, trust, and leadership as well as
improving
communication and problem solving skills. The courses are a series of
puzzles
involving platforms and obstacles. Finding the solutions for each task
involves
every member of the group and each task builds on the skills learned in the
previous activities. Great for staff development, youth groups,
rehabilitative
challenge programs and those seeking to build in-house programs.
Available as a short introduction or a half-day
trip.
"Wet Ropes" The Full Day Ropes Course following a Low
Ropes format, adds some unique
elements which takes place in the river. Floatation devices are provided
and
the activities are chosen with the group's needs in mind.
Minimum Age: 8 - Lunch Included on Full Day -
Guided
Hayride and
Bonfire It 's an
open-air adventure for you and your group along
the banks of the Nolichucky River. The blazing bonfire adds the finishing
touch
and enhances the camaraderie of your group. Minimum of 15 people; Minimum age : 4.
