We provide all of the equipment
you will need for your trip. All
you need to bring is a willingness to paddle and a sense of
adventure.
What Kind of Boat Should I Take? The Nolichucky is a naturally fed river so water levels
change throughout the
season. Our fleet includes crafts to suit any water level. We use both
self-bailing and non-self-bailing rafts as well as Funyaks. What is a
Funyak? A
Funyak is a lightweight, stable craft that is operated by one person.
Funyaking
adds to the fun and excitement as well as giving you a sense of freedom.
Our
guides and rafts accompany all Funyak trips. Our experience tells us which
type
of craft offers the best ride; therefore we will have the final say in
which
craft will provide you the maximum fun, excitement and safety. Each of the
boats has advantages and disadvantages depending on the water level.
Clothing You Will Need Foot protection is
required (old shoes or sandals). You will get wet! Bring a change of
clothes ,
shoes and a towel for after the trip. Mountain weather is unpredictable, so
come prepared for anything! In the summer, we recommend shorts, a T-shirt,
a
hat, and sunscreen. In the spring when it is cold, wool and Polypropylene,
or
other synthetic materials are recommended. Cotton will rob the body of heat
when it is wet. Paddle jackets and pants and wetsuits are available.
